Five Things to do in Vail, Colorado
Five Things to do in Vail, Colorado
My parents were here a few weeks ago and we did anything and everything we could while they were visiting. I want to share with you five things we loved! This is going to be a fun post. For those of you who don't know, I adore my parents and am beyond close with them, so this post HAS to be fun since I spoiled them while they were visiting.
1. Horse Back Riding
Horse back riding was probably the best thing we could have done on this trip. SO FUN! As a kid we grew up with horses so to put my dad back up on a horse was basically a dream come true for him. We chose to do this adventure with Four Eagle Ranch in Wolcot, CO. The rates were low and the service was AMAZING, and!! They allowed us to have so much fun while keeping us safe. If you have visitors or are needing a fun adventure check Four Eagle Ranch out!
2. Hanging Lake
This hike is pretty moderate so any visitors you have could do it. Every time we hike up the trail we see families and even parents with babies on their back. I love this hike because of its reward at the top. It's about two miles up and back and the view at the top is exactly how it sounds - Hanging Lake! So beautiful. It's located in between Eagle and Glenwood Springs and is actually one of my favorite hikes ever!
3. Piney Lake
Piney is one of my favorite places in this whole wide world. It's about 12 miles down on a dirt road outside of Vail and there is a little ranch called Piney River Ranch at the end of the road where there is a lake with a back drop only God could create. Also, a little bonus tip, if you go at about sunset you might get to see a moose or two, which is what happened to us. Such a special place in my heart! Piney River Ranch has canoeing, weddings, a restaurant and other things, there is hiking, beautiful views; all around the best place ever!
4. Vail Gondola
We ended up getting scenic tickets for my parents and we spent the day walking around Vail and then eventually riding the gondola up. We walked around the top of the Eagle Bahn and it had a little trail around the top with some info packed stands. My mom and I then strolled around Vail and Lion's Head again while my dad did a few more laps on the gondola. He loved it and couldn't stand to just go up once.
5. Maroon Bells
Maroon Bells is an all day trip, or at least it is for us! I have clients over in Aspen so we didn't just see the Maroon Bells, we a few projects I have been working on, walked around Aspen -- Such a cute little town by the way! We also packed a picnic to eat while at Maroon Bells.
My parents and I had the most grand time while they were here. We did something every day so this list didn't cover it all. BUT we had the BEST time! These were our favorite things that my husband and I loved showing them. My dad has been to Vail over 20 years ago, so it was excellent fun showing him 20 years worth of change and even greater to show both my parents our lives here in Vail. We live in an exciting and extrodinary place. We know God has us here for something amazing and feel blessed to be able to call these places our back yard.
